Dr Hogan, commonly known as Jamie has been involved in the community services and education sectors for almost forty-years. He is original a Youth Worker by profession and is a clinical counsellor, strategic and social planner, criminologist, Political Strategist and Commentator, a registered lobbyist and Academic
He has been Chief Executive Officer of a large Community Services organization and has worked with street gangs and homeless young people including teenage prostitutes and drug addicts, in Local Government, residential care and Juvenile Justice programs
He has been a Political Advisor, Campaign Director, ran two successful academic and Advocacy advisory consultancies.
Jamie has taught Alcohol and Other Drugs, Youth Work, Counselling, Mental Health Community Sector Management and Management. He is semi-retired however acts as a lobbyist and advocate for young people and people with mental health issues where he assists them in the legal system and tribunals.
Based in Gippsland Victoria he has extensive National, State, and Regional contacts in community, business and political spheres where he has represented various political candidates, community organizations and businesses in various successful and very different campaigns.
Dr Hogan is National Treasurer of Youth Workers Australia, National Chairperson of the Advocacy Institute of Australia and Secretary of the think tank, the Derek Amos Institute for Public and Political Affairs.
He is a qualified member of various organization including Youth Workers Australia, Australian New Zealand Academy of Management, Governance Institute of Australia, Australian New Zealand Criminology Society and the American Criminology Society.
He holds Fellowships of the Victorian Community leadership Program, Advocacy Institute of Australia, Institute of Management and Leadership in addition to training as a certified advocate and being awarded various accolades during his career.


Understanding governance and operations is one of the most important issues Youth Workers need to understand.
Things like Where does this policy come from that keeps getting quoted to me, where are these rules written, why is this the structure of my organization, who sets the government structure I work within.
Knowing about governance, where it comes from, how it is applied and the various structures Youth Workers work within is vital to the day to day operations of the various sub cultures of youth work and vital for career advancement.

Learning everything there is to know about Governance, Leadership and Operations is not possible in half a day however the training will touch on the following ares which will give each participant some understanding of the areas we will cover together.
For an in-service professional development session the training will be intence and raise questions that each participant can follow up with the trainer or in their own workplace.
